Taking Back what the Devil Stole

-Our Journey of Sunflowers and Rainbows-December 31, 2022

Oh my word I thought I had forgotten about “event” this until I saw it on my Facebook memories! Obviously someone’s face has been covered to protect their anonymity but let me tell you what happened. Just the week before this picture was taken, Christmas of 2020, Jeff and I had gifted Rachel a nice purse. The following Church service this visitor showed up, allowed me to take her contact information including a photo, and during our New Year’s Eve celebration went right to Rachel’s new purse and STOLE her wallet out of it! (So don’t be thinking that sin does not happen inside the church) but that’s not the point of my story. The point of my story is although we had many people there, many of which were visitors, my husband had Holy Spirit discernment that THIS was the woman who had taken Rachel‘s wallet. Once Rachel realized her wallet had been taken, she quickly contacted her bank and realized that her debit card had been presented at our local Walmart to no avail since the thief had not PIN. This picture, minus the emoji comment was shown to security where it was matched up to a positive ID of the woman attempting to use the debit card. Since she had given me all of her contact information, and the Holy Spirit informed Rachel‘s Dad about the theft, Jeffrey called her…..yes, he called the woman who took the wallet! The conversation went something like this:

Jeff: Just wondering if you knew anything about my daughter‘s wallet that was stolen from her purse last night at church?

Criminal: I have no idea

Jeff: You were seen taking it. If you meet me at the church and bring it back, charges will not be pressed.

Criminal: I’ll be right there.

Well the aftermath included the young woman returning the wallet minus gift cards but she did return the wallet. We all felt a victory because what would be the likelihood Rachel would get that wallet back? And most importantly, her ID was still there. We all know how hard it is to get those replaced. Moral of the story is this: you may feel as though something has been stolen from you. Maybe it has been taken but NO ONE is ever going to be able to steal your IDENTITY IN CHRIST!!! And guess what? According to God’s Word, HE WILL RESTORE!!!! Mind you, because of our human state what He restores with may not seem the same equivalence of what was taken but we can rest assured that it is much better! since August 19, 2021, I have felt very much that my daughter was “stolen“ from me while under hospital protocol. Regardless of what did or did not happen, God never senses to amaze me by regularly introducing me to people I would have never known. One such lady came to me in the Walgreens cashier line and after making small talk, asked “are you Rachel‘s mother?“ I was very happy to say that yes I was upon which, she wanted to know if she could hug me. Obviously I obliged. She went on to tell me that although she did not know my daughter personally, which is a very common thread I am hearing from people, she knew of her and followed the story. She also was aware of Rachel’s last time speaking with First Priority at a local high school and assured me of lives that were changed for ETERNITY! Thank you Lord that what we see here is only temporary and so so much more is going on unseen for Your Glory!
