~Our Journey of Sunflowers and Rainbows~
I was looking forward to today but dreading it at the same time. It was the day that we were going to celebrate Abigail‘s fourth birthday. Only it was her first birthday without her Mommy on this earth. I found myself having anxiety and stomach aches as well as brain fog just trying to figure what to do to help Fabio get a nice birthday party together for her. I kept feeling like I was forgetting something. And I even mentioned to my daughter Nicole how Rachel was always so good at this and I could plan a church event, but planning Abigail‘s birthday party was completely different. I wanted to do everything I could to help Fabio with this. And it was indeed beautiful! Abigail was dressed up like a pretty little princess she is. She had games, she had friends, she had lots of sugar, and lots of fun! She had something else though that one day I will hope to explain to her. You see, we have two tables in the house. One is a more formal dining table and the other more casual. The more casual table was filled with birthday presents as well as a beautiful backdrop but the formal dining table is where at the last moment the cake was decided to be cut and the candles blown out. Honestly it wasn’t until I watched Fabio lighting the candles that the memory of being in that same place came only it was in 2017 when Rachel and Fabio held up balloons for the gender reveal while she was pregnant with Abigail. She was so adorable with that cute pregnant belly! It was later when I could not resist the urge to look up the pictures that I saw it. Of course it’s very common to call a little girl “a princess“ but I noticed in the pictures with Fabio and Abigail from today, the place where a “crown shaped” balloon hung was on the side where our Rachel had stood for that gender reveal. Abigail Laine Lam has been so very, very loved prior to her birth and certainly now and on to come! I think God for “breaking protocol“ and allowing us to see this beautiful moment.
